3.2.3 Bearing seats. The internal bearing seats between the ball and the outer bearing
shell shall be self-aligning, permanently lubricated, and be of a resilient nature to prevent brinelling
(see 4.3.2).
3.2.4 Thermal design. All components shall be of material and design sufficient to
withstand intermittent operation at an oil temperature of 580 degrees Fahrenheit (°F)
(305 degrees Celsius (°C)) (see 4.3.2).
3.3 Operating requirements. Each shock absorber shall provide the following functional,
operational, and performance capabilities.
3.3.1 Damping resistance. Damping resistance shall be within the limits specified in
table I (see 4.4.1).
